Top Run


Katata Games was formed on November 7th, 2017. At least, that's when we've thought of the name and came up with the logo. We've actually started working on our first game 4 months before that. There are three of us: Lena and Mark Tityuk (we're a family) and our CEO, Schintzel the Cat (he's also family). What does "Katata" mean? To us, it means "cat". To anyone else, we want it to mean "quality games". To prove that, we've released Top Run to a good reception by public.


In the beginning

We never thought we'd become game developers. It never even struck our minds there's a job like that. Lena studied to be a journalist and worked in advertizing since she finished college. Mark's major was economics and that's what he's been doing ever since. However, at some point Lena had to quit her job due to health issues and Mark was bored with what he was doing. At that point, we've decided to try something new. Out of blue, we started working on a video game - we've loved them forever and we thought, wouldn't it be great if it could become our job? We started creating Top Run with absolutely no experience in coding, art or anything else required to create a game. It took us a lot of time: we've had to learn as we go and it turned out that to create a game is a bigger task than we initially thought - but we didn't let it hold us back.


We've finally released Top Run on mobile platforms on February 1st, 2019, 1.5 years after we've started working on it. In February 2020 we've released Top Run for Nintendo Switch, Steam, Xbox One and PS4 with huge help from Fantastico Studio. It was a long way from being passionate about video games to becoming actual game developers, but we're proud of what we've achieved so far. Top Run was released to a warm reception by players and mobile version got downloaded more than 250,000 times since its release. We've already started working on our next game. It's going to be bigger and better in every sense - but will still follow our main goal of creating games for players: fun, catchy, a bit old school and honest.
